Language acquisition
The goal of the language course is for you to have passed the German language exam for university admission (level DSH2) by the end of the fourth semester of UkrMath at the latest, so that you can attend all courses in German in the second phase of UkrMath and earn a full Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at JMU Würzburg. In the first phase of UkrMath, the necessary language courses are integrated.

- Scope: 600 units of language acquisition, 100 units of regional studies.
- Provider: Kolping Academy Würzburg
- Participants: all those who have little or no knowledge of German when they join UkrMath
- Start: November 2022
- Times/Duration: evening course in winter semester 2022/2023
- End: March 2023 at the latest
- Language level achieved: B1
- Extent: 320 UE language acquisition, maximum 20 persons/group.
- Provider: Center for Languages of the JMU Würzburg
- Participants: all those who only have language level B1
- Start: March 2023 (for summer semester 2023) or September 2023 (for winter semester 2023/2024)
- Times/duration: two 8-week block courses with 20 units/week each (March+April and May+June or September+October and November+December+January)
- Effort: assume that you will have extensive effort to prepare and follow up the UE during the course blocks.
- End: January 2024 at the latest
- Language level achieved: B2
- Final exam: DSH1
- Extent: 320 UE language acquisition, maximum 20 persons/group.
- Provider: Centre for Languages of the JMU Würzburg
- Participants: all those who only have language level B1
- Start: March 2023 (for summer semester 2023) or September 2023 (for winter semester 2023/2024)
- Times/duration: two 8-week block courses with 20 units/week each (March+April and May+June or September+October and November+December+January)
- Effort: assume that you will have extensive effort to prepare and follow up the UE during the course blocks.
- End: January 2024 at the latest
- Language level achieved: C1
- Final exam: DSH2
Your linguistic grouping
At the start of UkrMath in October 2022, you will be classified based on your German language skills.
- Group D3: no or low knowledge: B1 in winter semester 2022/2023, B2 in summer semester 2023, C1 in winter semester 2023/2024.
- Group D2: language level B1 available: B2 in summer semester 2023, C1 in winter semester 2023/2024
- Group D1: Language level B2 available: C1 in summer semester 2023
- Group D1: Language level C1 available: no language course, possibly DSH2 exam in March 2023
