Tour in the old town and castle

Marienberg Fortress is the city's landmark, visible from afar, and at the same time a testament to its more than 1,000 years of history. From the Middle Ages to the Baroque period, it was the seat of the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg. The tour takes you past the Echtertor gate and the horse trough to the moat, which offers a magnificent view of the city. The area is currently undergoing one of the most extensive renovations ever undertaken by the Bavarian Palace and Garden Administration. Immerse yourself in an eventful history from the Celts to the present day and take a look at the future of Marienberg Fortress.

In the old town, the tour takes you to a variety of sights that bear witness to the eventful history: including the historic town hall, St. Kilian's Cathedral, the Falkenhaus with its Rococo façade and the Gothic Marienkapelle chapel.

    Duration: 3 hours
    Starting time: 17:30
Meeting point: Bus parking area at Marienberg Fortress

    City tour "Nachtwächter"

Experience a very special kind of guided tour of Würzburg – cheerful, entertaining, informative and, at the same time, cabaret-style. A Würzburg original, Schorsch from the Meeviertel district, or his wife Babette, will guide you with wit and charm through the narrow streets of the old town from the town hall to the cathedral and around the market square with the Marienkapelle chapel.

On request, they will also be happy to take you to the Residenz. They bring Würzburg's history to life in the Franconian dialect, making it an unforgettable experience – especially as they recount what they once learned in local history lessons at primary school from their head teacher, Mr. Ruß.

An unforgettable experience that will leave you smiling for a long time to come!
