Heritage & Horizons: Synergies for the Future: Get together in historic atmosphere and develop new connections in research

Sure you’ve heard about German traditions like the bavarian Oktoberfest (quick note: it’s celebrated in Munich, not far away, easy to reach for a visit before or after ScopeMath).

Würzburg, which belongs to Bavaria, lies in its northern part — right in the center of Germany. The old town is full of traditional buildings and authentic German culture. This region is called Franconia. The famous German poet Goethe was a great supporter of this area, especially because of its wines. In Würzburg, you’ll find four prestigious wine estates (VDP wineries).

One of them, the Bürgerspital, we will visit. We will have the opportunity to visit its historic wine cellar. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy an informal inspiring research dinner at the winery’s restaurant, located in beautiful, traditional rooms in the heart of the city.

We’ll start with a traditional appetizer (available with or without meat), accompanied by the option to taste wines from the estate. After that, you’ll be able to choose from typical german food (available with or without meat).

Some facts about the venue "Bürgerspital":

    • composed from the german word Bürger (citizen) and Spital (hospital).
    • founded for the citiziens in 14th century.
