Successful Two-day Workshop on Geometric Analysis

24.07.2025

On the 3rd and 4th of July, 2025, the Chair of the Mathematics in the Sciences (Mathematics VI) hosted a workshop on Geometric Analysis organized chair holder Prof. Dr Anja Schlömerkemper and research associate Dr Jesse Ratzkin.

The workshop featured a lecture by Prof. Juncheng Wei, who currently holds the Giovanni Prodi professorship at JMU, during which he presented his complete resolution (in joint work with Liming Sun and Wen Yang) of an open problem posed by Haïm Brezis 40 years ago.

The workshop featured additional lectures by João Henrique Andrade of the University of São Paulo, Azahara DelaTorre of Sapienza Università di Roma, Tobias König of Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, Jonas Peteranderl of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and Guofang Wang of Albert-Ludwig-Universität Freiburg. Topics of the lectures included generalizations of the classical Yamabe problem to other curvature quantities such that the governing equation is higher-order, fractional order or fully nonlinear; uniqueness and nondegeneracy of bubble solutions; stability of Sobolev-type inequalities; and the existence of isoperimetric clusters.

Aside from the lectures, all participants had the opportunity to discuss work in progress and potential new avenues of research with each other. We are particularly pleased about the participation of several MSc students, and hope they will carry on their scientific investigations in related areas, injecting new energy and ideas into the geometric analysis community.

One can find abstracts for the talks and contact information of the speakers on the webpage devoted to the workshop:
