Giovanni Prodi Visiting Professorship Winter Semester 2021/2022

Francesco Fidaleo (Department of Mathematics, University of “Tor Vergata”, Rome) is working in the area of Operator Algebras, with applications to several fields of Mathematics and Quantum Physics.

His main interests belong to some general aspects of the theory of W*-algebras (non-commutative measure theory), with applications to Ergodic Theory, Quantum Probability, Non-commutative Geometry, Quantum Statistical Mechanics.

He has published over 70 papers in this field, and has been an invited speaker at many conferences and workshops devoted to this subject.

Francesco Fidaleo received his PhD in Mathematics in 1995. He started as an assistant professor at Department of Mathematics, University of “Tor Vergata” in 1993, and developed there all his career, where he was appointed as Full Professor in February 2013. He was visiting professor in several institutions, among them Texas A&M University (USA), IIUM (Malaysia), Padre Conceicao College of Engineering (India), University of Pretoria (South Africa), Simon Stoilow Mathematical Institute (Romania).

During the winter semester of 2021, Prof. Fidaleo will give the course of lectures “Topics in Operator Algebras”  (with exercises). (see www.mathinfo.uni-wuerzburg.de/vv2122.html).
