wümax Mathe-Zirkel
The Mathe-Zirkel is an offer for all pupils in grade 5-10 who are enthusiastic about maths or enjoy solving puzzles. Here you have the opportunity to discover exciting maths - from the comfort of your own home. You don't have to have an A in maths to take part, but you do need mathematical imagination, determination and perseverance.
The Mathe-Zirkel is a regular offer, flexible in terms of time and location, so you can easily integrate it into your timetable.
How does the Mathe-Zirkel work?
Once a month you will receive a letter with a maths topic and background information. There are corresponding tasks of varying difficulty. Some are easy to solve, others require more thought. You send your solutions to the tasks to the University of Würzburg and receive the corrections and examples of solutions back.
Hard-working maths explorers who have regularly sent in their work will receive a certificate and a reward at the end of the school year.
What topics does the Mathe-Zirkel cover?
The mathematical topics are very diverse. Examples are
- Magic squares
- Propositional logic
- Colouring
- The house of St Nicholas
You are also welcome to suggest a topic that interests you. The tasks can essentially be worked on independently of the school material. The Mathe-Zirkel is therefore not intended to deepen a topic from school. In particular, it is not a substitute for private tuition.
Mathe-Zirkel on site
In October, as part of the 'Doors open with the mouse' campaign, we are inviting maths fans in lower school in particular to discover maths.
All participants in the Mathe-Zirkel in grade 5 to 8 are invited to a Mathe-Samstag in the summer.
Participants from grade 9 and 10 can experience maths at the wümax Mathe-Seminar.
Events:
On 3 October 2025, the Institute of Mathematics will once again open its doors with the mouse.
